The Route Chemroute is the name we are using for the cycle path from Chichester cathedral to the main roundabout at Emsworth. Having said that, the swans at Emsworth live just down the hill by the bridge and make their wonderful nest on the edge of the pond.
We are calling it Chemroute (Ch as in Chichester, em of Emsworth). Officially it is part of Route 2 of the National Cycle Network. Route 2 will eventually run from Dover in Kent to St. Austell in Cornwall. Chemroute is therefore in the spine. We hope it will become a strong backbone and be a beacon to others developing Route 2.
The aim is to create a high quality, consistent cycling facility running from Chichester, through Fishbourne, through the Broadbridge part of Bosham, through Nutbourne, Southbourne and Hermitage to Emsworth.
